“I hope this award inspires other disability persons to do the same as what I do”.
– Massimo Zurzolo

NextGen Jobs wants to applaud BMW #NextTech automotive apprentice, Massimo Zurzolo, on winning the ‘Disability Achievement Award’ at the 2021 Victorian Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN) awards night on 16th February, 2022.

‘The Disability Achievement’ category has been newly added, and presented to those apprentices or trainees with a disability who have shown outstanding performance and attitude throughout their training.

Massimo’s Story

Massimo chose not to let being hearing impaired stop him from achieving his potential, and excitingly began his journey in February of 2020, where he commenced a school-based apprenticeship with BMW #NextTech working two days per week, all while completing Year 12, attending TAFE at Kangan ACE and VCE Auslan night classes. Following his completion of his Year 12 studies, in November of 2021, Massimo transitioned into a full-time apprenticeship with NextGen Jobs and BMW #NextTech

Massimo’s tremendous efforts have been made clear, having previously won ‘The Apprentice of the Year for Automotive – School Based’ award in 2020 through the Kangan Institute, as well as being a finalist for the 2021 ‘School-based Apprentice of the Year’ award at the Victorian Training Awards.

We are delighted to see the inclusion of the Disability Achievement category at the AEN awards as to acknowledge the endeavors and achievements of those with disabilities like Massimo, and are proud to see such an inspiring person overcome hurdles associated with his disability and earn such a prestigious award!
